Nautical Theme with an Elegant Twist

Nautical Theme with an Elegant Twist

This event was a particularly challenging one. This was for a non-profit fundraising gala, and the client originally came to us with the concept of a nautical style theme. After the first round of proposals, they came to the conclusion that they wanted a “nautical” theme, but did not want to use any traditional nautical style décor like anchors, rope, etc. Instead they wanted it to be more about the turbulent seas.

I remember thinking, hmm….how are we going to pull this one off? Luckily we did some digging and came up with what I considered to be possibly the most perfect solution for this event that I could have dreamed possible. We found these amazing glass containers with a mix of blue, green, and purple wave patterns wrapped around the container (I know, perfect right!) We then found some glass bowls with a scalloped edge that was perfect for floating candles with a couple floral accents. I literally could not have found a more perfect series of containers if I tried!

For the flowers, we kept it to a color mix of blue and purple hydrangea, thistle, and assorted blooms for a textured style look that resembled crashing waves.

Then to top it all off, we added purple, blue, and silver shantung linens to the mix and voila! The stage was embellished with giant faux boulders and greenery for a rocky shoreline type look and white drapery down the length of the room up-lit in blue finished it all off.
