We recently did a bar mitzvah for a young man that was a hockey theme. Red and black were his team’s colors and this event was top notch from start to finish. It was held at the Westin Oaks at the Galleria in Houston. Guests entered through a lighted spandex tunnel into the foyer that we up-lit in vibrant red. An ice sculpture of a hockey player was surrounded by red roses and stood on a platform in the center of the foyer. Black and silver linens were topped with centerpieces using real ice skates filled with red roses. An ice bar served guests during cocktail hour.
Inside the ballroom, guests entered under a 20ft custom sign that tied in with the theme, to find a room decked to the nines in hockey and red and black décor. The kids’ tables were covered in black and silver linen with custom lighted centerpieces on top. At the far end of the kid area, custom locker props were displayed along with a logo decal on the floor and additional real lockers for their shoes.
The dance floor was covered in a printed decal that transformed it into an ice hockey ring. On the back corners, white penalty boxes frame two lounge areas. High overhead a custom jumbo tron with the boy’s photo on it was hung. The DJ was surrounded by an LED screen and on either side two giant 10ft tall picture frames displayed a photo of the bar mitzvah.
The adult tables were even more impressive with red, black, and silver shantung linens, black napkins with a red napkin ring, and red charger plates. The centerpieces varied from towering red rose arrangements with hanging crystals to a low custom ice sculpture centerpiece with the event logo surrounded by red roses at the base.
Each centerpiece was pin spotted and gobo projections lined the perimeter walls along with up lighting in red. Interactive bars were used for the adults and custom programmed with photos of the bar mitzvah boy and the event logo.
It was truly a transformation!
