Ultra Violet for 2018

Ultra Violet for 2018

Each year we wait with baited breath for Pantone to come out with their annual color of the year. (Ok not really, but it is still fun!) Their color selection is not necessarily indicative of what color is going to be most popular in design and fashion, but is more often than not a selection made based as a sign of the times.

This year, Pantone has deemed Ultra Violet to be the Color of 2018. This medium to dark done purple was selected by Pantone as a reflection of modern time, according to their website. While pop culture has long made purple a stylish hue, this selection was also designed to help folks relax and rejoice through meditation in this crazy hectic world in which we live.

What does this mean for event design trends? Well, it doesn’t necessarily mean that suddenly you will see a crazy influx of requests for purple theme décor. You might however, start to see more varieties of purple used to complement a more neutral color palette. This can be translated into floral selections, drapery, table linens, lounge pillows, etc.

What colors pair well with Ultra Violet? Any neutral grey, white, silver, gold, or black will pair perfectly with Ultra Violet. If you are going for a bolder look, shades of blue or even fuchsia offer a nice contrast.
